Mechanism of Action: Novel Inhibitors of TRPC6
Mechanism of Action
Novel Inhibitors of TRPC6
Our current mechanistic focus is Transient Receptor Potential Canonical 6 (TRPC6) is a mechanosensitive cation channel that is broadly expressed throughout the body. The role of TRPC6 in the heart is to give the heart a boost when there is a increase in demand. In disease, TRPC6 is upregulated and hyperactivated, contributing to disease progression. Therefore, blocking TRPC6 is a potentially powerful therapeutic strategy.
We have demonstrated a new generation of TRPC6 inhibitors works as an effective therapy for treating cardiac, renal, and muscle diseases.
Our goal is to determine precisely how.
We will use a combination of molecular docking simulations, AI-predicted protein modeling, and cryo-EM to determine where TRPC6 inhibitors are binding and their impact on the structure and function of TRPC6.
